Equine-assisted therapy, a compassionate, grounding approach to healing…
Are you looking for an alternative to the traditional therapy room? Would you prefer the healing presence of horses?

Why horses?
Horses are authentic, sensitive beings who respond to human energy, body language, and presence in the moment.
They do not judge, and they do not expect words. Instead, they provide immediate feedback that helps people better understand themselves, explore choices, set boundaries, and practice self-compassion.
Horses act as partners in the healing process, providing authenticity and unconditional acceptance.

The healing journey
Each person’s journey looks different. Some sessions focus on quiet interactions such as brushing, walking with a horse, or simply being in the field together. Others involve reflecting on real-life challenges—like relationships, work pressures, or rebuilding confidence after trauma—and practising new responses in a supportive environment.
A blend of experiential learning and more traditional therapeutic approaches can be interwoven for the benefit of the client. As with all approaches, sessions are flexible and adjust to your pace.
Equine-assisted therapy is not about horsemanship—it’s about healing through relationship, presence, and connection. Whether you come with anxiety, fear, low confidence, or unresolved trauma, the herd offers stability and strength to help you move forward.

- Building Self-Worth and Confidence
The horses have helped clients learn to respect their own boundaries and choices by observing and interacting with horses who clearly express their needs. This translated into greater self-expression and assertiveness in their daily lives.
- Grounding and Emotional Regulation
The calming presence of the horses has helped clients stay present and grounded during sessions, which was particularly valuable for managing anxiety, freeze responses, or dissociation.
Equine-assisted EMDR has provided the reprocessing benefits of EMDR with an additional sense of safety.
‘…The therapy you offered me with them is truly one of the most lovely experiences I have had. Please hug them all for me, and give an extra nice scratch behind their ears!’

My equine therapy training journey
Having been qualified as a psychologist for many years and been involved in horses for even more, I started my equine therapy journey in 2015. Since then I have undertaken various trainings to qualify me to work alongside horses to provide learning and therapy.
Sessions take place during the summer months. They are self-funding and are charged at £120 for 60 minute session.
